Troika Consulting
Troika Consulting is a peer-to-peer coaching method that helps participants gain insights into their challenges by receiving advice from colleagues. It fosters mutual support and trust within a group, making it ideal for diverse teams looking to solve problems collaboratively.
How to run it
- 1
Form groups of three, with participants seated knee-to-knee.
- 2
Each participant takes turns being the 'client' while the others act as 'consultants.'
- 3
The client shares a challenge they are facing and the type of help they need (1-2 minutes).
- 4
Consultants ask clarifying questions to better understand the challenge (1-2 minutes).
- 5
The client turns their back to the consultants, who then discuss potential solutions and advice (4-5 minutes).
- 6
The client turns back and shares what they found most valuable from the feedback (1-2 minutes).
- 7
Rotate roles and repeat until everyone has had a turn as the client.
Tips
Encourage participants to form groups with diverse backgrounds for richer insights.
Remind them to focus on asking clarifying questions rather than jumping to solutions.
Encourage open-mindedness and empathy during the discussions.
To maintain a safe environment, advise participants to share feedback judiciously.
Variations
For a twist, try Q-Storming by restricting consultants to only asking questions to deepen the client's understanding of their challenge. Alternatively, integrate with '15% Solutions' by having clients present a small actionable step they can take, seeking advice on it.
