Sync Claps

Sync Claps is an engaging activity designed to enhance focus and alignment within a group. Participants form a circle and pass a clap around, gradually increasing speed and complexity to foster connection and attentiveness.

Duration
5m–30m
Group size
10–40 people
CCBY-SA 4.0

How to run it

  1. 1

Have the group stand in a circle.

  2. 2

One participant begins by clapping hands with their neighbor while making eye contact.

  3. 3

Continue passing the clap around the circle, encouraging synchronization and increasing speed.

  4. 4

Once the group is comfortable, introduce a double clap where pairs must decide non-verbally whether to clap once or twice, reversing the direction of the clap.

Tips

  • Encourage participants to stay focused to enhance synchronization.

  • Use the experience of struggling with the double clap to discuss group dynamics and communication.

  • Adapt the pace of the claps based on the group's comfort level.

Variations

To add a twist, incorporate different sounds or gestures instead of claps to keep the energy high and introduce new challenges.
