Novice or Expert?

This method helps participants experience the contrast between learning styles. They will understand the challenges of using a weak learning style and the advantages of utilizing a stronger one.

How to run it

  1. 1

    Before the break or end of day one, hand out the Activity Ranking Sheet to each participant.

  2. 2

    Ask them to rank five activities based on their expertise levels.

  3. 3

    During the break, sort participants into two groups: Novice and Expert.

  4. 4

    Novice groups will include those who rated an activity as 4 or 5.

  5. 5

    Expert groups will consist of individuals who rated an activity as 1 or 2.

  6. 6

    Ensure each team represents similar skill levels for each activity.

  • Make sure to clarify the ranking criteria with participants to ensure accurate results.

  • Encourage open discussion within groups to enhance understanding.

  • Monitor time closely during the activity to keep it on track.
