Homepage Bingo

Homepage Bingo is an engaging ideation exercise where participants design a product or service homepage by ranking features as if arranging a bingo card. This method encourages quick decision-making and prioritization of features.

Duration
30m–1h
Group size
3–10 people
Materials
post-it notes, homepage frame sheets

How to run it

  1. 1

Prepare a set of cards with features or attributes to rank, and provide each participant with a homepage frame and a set of these cards.

  2. 2

Ensure participants are seated with enough space to prevent them from seeing each other's work.

  3. 3

Call out the feature cards in random order, allowing participants to place them on their homepage frames as they see fit.

  4. 4

Participants must decide the hierarchy of features quickly, arranging what they consider most important at the top.

  5. 5

Facilitate a discussion at the end by displaying all completed homepages and reflecting on the decisions made.

Tips

  • Encourage participants to make quick decisions to simulate real-world constraints.

  • Use illustrated cards to reduce bias and stimulate creative thinking.

  • Discuss the reasoning behind the placement of features to gain deeper insights.

Variations

Try using digital tools for remote teams or replace product features with customer needs for a different focus. Adjust the complexity of the features based on the participants' expertise level.
